Description
Highly responsible administrative, planning and professional work, in directing all activities of the Public Works Department, which include Technical Services, Fleet Maintenance, Streets, Stormwater and Solid Waste Divisions. Work is performed under the administrative direction of the City Manager.
Requirements
- Supervises all divisions of Public Works; plans, assigns, and directs the employees through subordinates.
- Provides oversight of engineering design, permitting, construction management, and consultant contracts for City infrastructure and capital projects. This includes grant-funded projects.
- Develop plans and projects for the Public Works Department such as short and long range goals, capital improvements as well as maintenance update scheduling.
- Manages complex City infrastructure and other capital projects, coordinating with local, state, and federal agencies as required.
- Prepares work schedules.
- Supervises work in progress.
- Prepares operating budget and capital improvement budget for Public Works. Analyzes the budget and adjusts as needed.
- Directs the placement, training, promotions, discipline and evaluations activities of all Public Works employees.
- Ensures compliance with SWFWMD, FDOT, FDEP, EPA, and other regulatory programs as appropriate.
- Provides leadership in disaster preparedness, debris management, FEMA reimbursement documentation, and emergency response operations.
- Meets with citizens, neighborhood groups, and stakeholders to communicate public works programs and projects.
- Coordinates closely with other City departments.
- Reviews development plans for code and engineering standards compliance.
- Member of Technical Review Committee (TRC).
- Presents updates and recommendations to City Council, advisory boards, and external partners as appropriate.
